Audrey White
Director of Development

Audrey was born on the Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona, over 50 years ago. As a member of the only African-American family in her small town (Page, Arizona), she recognized at the tender age of 8 years old her talent for building and nurturing relationships. It was at that time, that she began educating local teachers, friends and their parents to embrace cultural diversity. She worked diligently to dispel stereotypes and made herself available as an approachable source of information and a role model for diversity, inclusion and cultural understanding.

She graduated from Page High School at the age of 16 to attend the University of Arizona (Tucson) on a full academic scholarship. During her time at the University of Arizona, she enthusiastically supported the betterment of her community by joining the Iota Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was often called upon to guide sorors, friends and loved ones through the journey of growth and development that occurs during the college experience. It was also during her sophomore year in college, at the age of 18 that she became pregnant with her first child. If only there had been a Generation Hope program at that time! Due to a major lack of resources for student parents she made the painful decision to leave school and move to Washington, DC to begin her new life as a wife and mother. More that 20 years later (2005), thanks to advances in technology, she was able to complete her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing at University of Phoenix through their online platform.

Following her passion, she has worked for charitable organizations in DC focusing on the betterment of the human condition. Audrey has continued to serve others using her innate ability to build strategic partnerships. She continues to follow the path of her younger self - embracing and celebrating diversity. Standing firmly rooted within her passion and purpose,  she continues

to build strategic partnerships with the belief that: "Real superheroes don't leap tall buildings, they build bridges that bring people together to heal wounded minds, bodies, and spirits."

She finds joy in being a mother of two delightful children (Shanti and Sherod) and a grandmother (Nana) of SEVEN amazing young ones ranging in age from 4 to 18.

Quote:

“This is what the things can teach us: to fall, patiently to trust our heaviness. Even a bird has to do that before he can fly.” – Rainer Maria Rilke

Why I chose this quote:

This quote speaks to my soul! It calls out our life's challenges (THE THINGS) - and gives us a call to action (FALL!) Only within the vulnerability of the "fall" can we see our path forward (PATIENCE/TRUST), embrace our beautifully imperfect humanity (HEAVINESS), and find purpose in our journey . . . FLY!
