On April 27, 2013, Generation Hope held its second in-service training of the year. Scholars were given information on effective study skills and Sponsors were provided with information on how to talk to their Scholars about their reproductive health by Dr. Sheila Overton. Thank you to the University of the District of Columbia for donating the space!

On March 9, 2013, Generation Hope Scholars, their children, and their Sponsors attended a performance at Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Md.!

On January 26, 2013 Scholars, their children, their Sponsors, and Generation Hope staff, board members and volunteers, came together to celebrate love! The group painted plates that will be auctioned off at the "Pep Rally Under the Stars" 2013 Gala and enjoyed Valentine's Day goody bags, cupcakes, and pizza. On January 16, 2013, Whole Foods Foggy Bottom hosted a 5% Day to benefit Generation Hope. The event raised more than $6,000 to assist us in helping teen parents in the D.C. area earn their college degrees!

On November 17, 2012, Generation Hope held its first in-service training of the year. Scholars were given information on time management and Sponsors were provided with tools for effective coaching. Thank you to Montgomery College for donating the space!

On October 13, 2012, Generation Hope Scholars, their children, and their Sponsors as well as staff went to Port Discovery Children's Museum in Baltimore, Md., to enjoy a day of learning and fun!

On Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Generation Hope hosted "Night at the Museum" at the Alexandria Black History Museum in Old Town Alexandria, VA to raise funds and awareness for the Generation Hope Scholar Program. We raised nearly $1,000 and made vital connections for our Scholars!

On Saturday, July 28, 2012, the 2012/2013 Generation Hope Scholars and Sponsors participated in mentor/mentee training and then met each other for the first time at a special "Meet & Greet" luncheon.

On June 30, 2012, Generation Hope hosted its first Hope Conference bringing together Scholars and pregnant or parenting high school juniors to experience a day-long career, academic, and life-skills training that will encourage their success in college and beyond.

On June 29, 2012, Generation Hope hosted its first gala to celebrate the accomplishments of its first year of program services and to raise money for the coming year!

On April 28, 2012, Generation Hope held its second in-service training of the year. Scholars were given information on academic planning and Sponsors were provided with guidance on crisis management. Thank you to the University of the District of Columbia Community College for donating the space!

On Saturday, March 10th Scholars, their children, and their Sponsors went to AMF Capital Plaza Lanes to enjoy an afternoon of pizza and bowling.

On January 28, 2012, Generation Hope Scholars, their children, and their Sponsors had a Valentine's Day party at the Lorton Workhouse in Lorton, Virginia. During the party, Scholars received much-needed items, such as diapers, clothing, and school supplies, for themselves and for their children, and they created a beautiful piece of artwork with artist Nancy Hannans.

Generation Hope's first in-service training for Scholars was held on November 19, 2011 at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in D.C. The training was on life balance - an opportunity to learn how to balance being a mother, college student, employee, friend and more. Thank you to Kaiser Permanente for donating the space!

On October 22, 2011, Generation Hope Scholars, their children, and their Sponsors as well as staff and board members went to Clark's Farm in Ellicott City, Md., to pick pumpkins, pet animals, and go on a hayride!

On Thursday, September 22, 2011, Generation Hope hosted "Blues for Bucks," a happy hour fundraiser at Madam's Organ Soul Food Restaurant & Bar in Washington, DC.

On Saturday, August 27, 2011, the 2011/2012 Generation Hope Scholars and Sponsors participated in mentor/mentee training and then met each other for the first time at a special "Meet & Greet" luncheon.

Generation Hope officially launched on April 28, 2011. The evening included a town hall discussion on why post-secondary completion for teen parents is so important to our community and was followed by a cocktail reception. Photos by Leigh Dameron.
